The "Right" Trikker Personality

Mark Codispoti, a fellow trikke trainer and enthusiast brought the NC leg of his 50 State tour to Raleigh on August 8. We had never met Mark, but we were certainly amazed by the task that he was setting out to accomplish. He plans to ride a minimum Trikkathon of 26 miles in 50 states plus DC. By just spending moments with him at dinner the night before the ride, we discovered a gentle, life enthusiastic soul, with a pure love of trikking. What a wonderful guy Mark is! The day of the ride we were so impressed with his skill, his heart, and his drive, that afterwards it seemed sad to see him go. 1^st Annual Capital Trikke Remembrance Ride

Silver Comet Trail

June 20, 2009

9 am – 5pm

We will meet at the Silver Comet Depot at 4342 Floyd Rd. Mableton Ga.

Everyone will leave their cars here and begin the ride. Everyone must start in groups with general plans as to how far they will be riding.

Shorter distance riders can go up to Carter (8.8 miles round trip) or Florence (15 miles round trip.) Upon returning to the ride start, everybody will get in their cars and head up to Coots Lake to meet up with longer distance riders and enjoy the rest of the day. (longer distance riders can make arrangement for cars to brought up or get a ride back at the end of the day)

The second meeting point will be Coot’s Lake Beach approx 30 miles up the trail. We should all be together around 1pm for lunch.

It’s $5.00 per person admission for Coot’s Lake Beach

.We will have a full cook out picnic and fun time at Coot’s. We will have basic cook out food for everyone (dogs, burgers, chips, sodas etc), but feel free to bring any items specific to your diet. There is a lake/beach for anyone who wants to enjoy water activities. We will bring some game stuff, footballs etc. Be sure to throw some fun stuff in your car!

Those who want to continue to ride and explore can ride to other trailheads from Coot’s while everyone continues to play! One suggestion to complete a 50+ mile ride is to Trikke back down the trail from Coots to Rambo and back to Coot’s. That’s 21 miles round trip, but there are many mile opportunities. See trail breakdown below.

We will have one last casual group ride in the afternoon (around 3pm) with everyone Trikking through the scenic trail to Rockmart and back 7.4 miles round trip. This should be a very fun ride!

Hill-y Chapel Hill

The above footage was shot this past weekend at Chapel Hill's Meadowmont Trail. This trail is detailed in our local rides section of the blog. It has some challenging inclines for the avg rider but is a great place to practice building endurance and hill climbing skill/technique. It's very important to recognize that hill climbing is part conditioning and part technique. One doesn't work without the other. We all "Trikke Hiked" a bit around the trails, because the important thing to me about riding a Trikke is getting the most out of your ride and having fun. Sometimes this means knowing when you've given it all you can and its time to "pull over" and enjoy a chat with your fellow trikkers! I personally have no desire to crawl home and not be able to ride the next day because I was determined to make it up a hill 5 times--unless making it up that hill 5 times can be done without injury. If you understand the technique in your head, and then condition your body to recreate it, you'll be just fine and you'll find your limits. It'll be up to you whether you push beyond them or not!

We had a wonderful day at the Raleigh RBC center during the Carolina Hurricanes Caniac Carnival. So many people came over with genuine curiosity about the TRIKKE. Few walked away without a smile on their face--- especially those who took one of our demo trikkes for a spin. Loved the go get em spirit of small and big kids alike! Hope to hear from you again soon!
